Stories from Bad Kleinkirchheim
Sensing the Meaningful
Author: Verena Schneider
A special sort of Spa Gardens is located across from the Thermal Baths of St. Kathrein, right in the middle of Bad Kleinkirchheim. Visitors are not just invited to take walks here. The Wasserix-Sensation Park ‘Amistad’, which is divided into a playing-experiencing area and a relaxing-spa area, offers nature and ‘sensation experiencing for all ages.
While the little ones are experimenting in the water element, balancing on tree trunks or going wild on the jungle gym, Mama and Papa can be lying comfortably in one of the wooden hammocks that are hanging all over the park, just waiting for someone to relax in them.
…I take my shoes off and go on an expedition through the park – barefoot. Well, it is a ‘sensation’ park and I want to really use all my 5 senses here with the help of the many artificial and natural objects. First off, I get comfortable in one of the hammocks in the forest experience area, close my eyes – listen to the rustling of the leaves, the whistling of the birds and the babbling of the little brook. I open my eyes up again, look at the canopy of leave above and watch the dappling of the sun and shade. The ‘Barefoot Path’ is my next station – it curves through the spa area and lets your feet feel differing textures. From bark mulch – hmmmmm, the way it smells in the sun – all the way to sand and stones in various sizes. Some areas were a real challenge for the soles of my feet.
The path leads me on to the ‘Snail Shell’ – artwork made from marble, you use it to go into yourself. I let my inner child go and crawl in. The stone, warmed by the sun, feels like velvet and the acoustics are awesome … you’ve got to try it out yourself!
At the end of my expedition in the empire of sensation, a drinking fountain offers me pure mountain spring water - refreshment at its finest!
