Sagamundo – House of Tales
Author: Brigitte Kaplenig
It’s difficult, in a way, to describe a place like Sagamundo, seeing as it lives from feelings, dreams and astonishment. It’s a place that offers individual experiences for everybody, a place where grown-ups become kids, and kids find a place that speaks their language of fantasy.
As soon as you pass the sculpture “The Giant’s Watering Hand” at the appealing and imaginative entrance of Sagamundo, you know you’re immerging into a world full of myths and tales. When you look around, you see necklaces holding mysterious signs, an archway spreading a message in big letters, and finally a large treasure chest. And so, it’s not just the children who have a sparkle in their eye as they await the journey through Sagamundo, and the search for the treasure chest. I won’t tell you too much; that would take all the excitement out of exploring Sagamundo yourself. However, I will tell you a little bit. The trip through Sagamundo leads from the surface of earth, where you meet the lively ocean witch, SeelaMill, then further through the underworld, rich in material and immaterial treasures, and eventually leads to heaven’s gardens, where you learn about the Mirnock-Giant.
Cozy lairs and caves to listen and dream…gleaming crystals and fascinating light-effects to watch and enjoy…mystical natural formations which create different faces depending on the imagination of each person, …a fairytale like swan-bed…a “do-it-yourself” creative-room…and places of storytelling everywhere. All of that and much more is what you’ll discover in Sagamundo. And the nice thing about it is that there are no restrictions - everything is allowed! At the end of my journey through Sagamundo, I found my treasure and caught myself leaving this house of tales with a delighted, happy smile and a light, child-like heart. A glance back to the other guests showed me that I wasn’t the only one.
