Encounter with the Places of Power

Author: Verena Schneider

Because I often want to escape the grey everyday life of late autumn, I once again set off towards Millstätter-Lake, being as the loveliest weather was waiting outside. At Döbriach the streets curl up towards Mirnock – the “mountain of energy”. Many claim that this mountain possesses mystical powers. The mountain itself offers a whole variety of places of power, for example the “Scala Paradisi” on its peak, the “sanctuary of trees” (a huge oak with 7 trunks), or Menhir (Lochvisierstein),…but the places of energy in Gschriet are more than just that.

Here, high above the Millstätter-Lake, Josef Georg, a German dowser, made a special discovery just a few years ago. He believes that a place of power is a location that increases your energy. At three spots, not too far apart from each other, hikers can feel these strong bio-energetic waves – either as a tingling, a feeling of warmth or a feeling of cold.

What it should leave behind is a harmonious feeling, inner peace and satisfaction. And to those who don’t just want to feel but also want to read, extensive explanatory notes and suggestions can be found at the spots themselves and on the stones along the roadside which have been marked with symbols. Starting point: there is a small path, boasting a majestic view over the Millstätter-Lake, starting from the guesthouse Possegger (or Renate’s Einkehr) leading north. And the first place of power is right behind the first cottage. From here it’s only a few hundred meters to the “Pyramid” and the meditation spot.

Did I feel anything? I’ll keep that as my secret…but it’s best if you try it yourself!
