Franz Klammer
Home to the legendary downhill skiing olympic champion, Franz Klammer, Bad Kleinkirchheim is "his" place to ski and this is where you'll still find him enjoying the slopes from the Kaiserburg to St. Oswald. Don't be too surprised then, if you suddenly seem him whizzing right by you!
Carving tips from former downhill champion Franz Klammer:
"Put your weight on the edge, push off well and accelerate to the maximum on the next turn.". This is advice given to a chosen few excellent skiers.
In general, Klammer suggests the allround carver, a normal length carving ski. With the shorter skis you need to be much better, and have greater control, especially when fatigue starts to set in.
The race carvers should only be used when there is enough room on the slopes and then only by expert skiers.
What Franz Klammer may lack in training nowadays, he makes up for in technique:"I still ski exactly as I used to 15 years ago; I just decide which mode to use - nice and easy or turbo!"
