The animals of the Biosphere Park
In the forests, rivers and lakes, and in the air and the meadows, countless animals have made their home. Cows graze in the alpine meadows, along with horses, goats and sheep. Chamois climb in between the rugged cliffs. Shy groundhogs peek out of their homes. On a hike through the Nockberge Mountains, you can expect to encounter many exciting creatures.
The plant life of the Biosphere Park
Thanks to the soft peaks and special climate, the Nockberge Mountains contain a wide variety of plants. The special plant species include the durable stone pine and the one-of-a-kind Speick. During a barefoot hike in the biosphere park, you can ask a park ranger about the amazing effects of the stone-pine wood. An activity programme for Speick focuses on this special plant. On an impressive tour, you’ll learn everything there is to know about this type of valerian that only grows in the Nockberge Mountains.
